Best site I've found lately, especially nice with a 400-mile this evening.

Quick follow-up on this post...

[info]reeniecooks and I went to Delfina last night for her birthday.

It was awesome. Thanks to [info]lisa's find of this review, we knew to order the ribollita. Actually, we ordered it once (it's an antipasta), then ordered it *again* it was so good. The salt cod mantecato with fennel seed flatbread was also really, really good. We shared a bitter greens salad with amazing parmesan shaved over the top. I had the pork shoulder and Marina had the quail for our main courses. Then I had a cheese with black truffle and Marina had the profiteroles for dessert. Then they rolled us out of there on a forklift.

Would go again, and again.

P.S. The parking gods knew it was Marina's birthday -- space out front in the toughest parking neighborhood south of Russian Hill. Josh Charles, of Dead Poet's Society and Sports Night, was eating there too...I can recognize pretty random celebs!

For [info]lisa's benefit, since she owes [info]henry big time...ask her why.

Starting close to her new 'hood (Mission Dolores, basically)...
Delfina
Bar Tartine
Limon
Medjool

Then some favorites further afield...
Boulevard
Kokkari
Chez Papa

[info]reeniecooks is getting a Delfina dinner for her impending birthday!

Anyone out there been to the Concourse at the SF Design Center for a concert?

We're going to a show there tomorrow night and I'm wondering if there are any seats for this pregnant woman that I know.

Update: Sucky venue. Belle & Sebastian could play inside a shipping container and still sound great, and I'd still pay to be there, but still...it doesn't feel good to pay $30/ticket for a concert inside an oversized shipping container, where I can't sit down.

I just discovered Burritophile. This is the kind of thing that makes me feel good to be in the business that I'm in. I don't know or care what they're using for the site/blog. I'm just glad it's there.

For all my San Franciscan friends who have lived here less than 2 years, you're in for a treat this weekend. Well, it'll be a treat if you like seeing a pretty damn unique show and don't mind the terrifying sound and can ignore the militaristic propaganda subtext.

The Blue Angels will be doing their traditional Fleet Week show this weekend, at 3pm on both Sat. and Sun. They didn't do the show last year, so I'm excited they're back. It's really an awesome sight to see the jets in formation with the city as their backdrop. I think it's beautiful.

Blue Angels - Bay

Here are some great locations for viewing them:

- Any portion of Russian Hill or Pac Heights or the Cow Hollow/Marina area as long as you have a view of the bay

- Alta Plaza Park (Pac Heights)

- Dolores Park (Mission-Dolores)

- A tall building with an unobstructed view to the north.
