Eight *million*
Though I've only been working with the LiveJournal team since March 14th, 2005, I feel pretty proud that we just signed up our eight-millionth account. That's a cool milestone. As I say with all of LJ's big accomplishments, I had virtually nothing to do with it; the LJ team had a lot to do with it; and the users (especially the Support/Abuse volunteers) had everything to do with it.

Trivia -- we ended my first day here with 6,440,056 accounts.

I'm userid 167524 -- it took me a year to get into support. I imagine your userid is pretty close to the userid of the first account created after you started in support. ;)

You're old in LJ years (like dog years), but let's be clear -- you're not old, afaik ;-) Now, I'm going to be 31 (in real-life years) in a couple months :-\ But you win at LJ!!!

I think we were at 700k users when I was hired 2.5 years ago. Crazy!

Re: close enough!

That's wild...what clusters were there?

Re: close enough!

None you'd know now! I think it was, C01m (cartman?), Chef, Santa. We installed Green the day I started. Indigo, Ribeye came later. Then we started doing the master-master setups and began the meat cluster names ;)

No memcache. Webs still had local disk (weren't booting off of nfs). And the site was always, always blocked. At least it felt like it.

Times, times.

Hi, sorta the right place. This is my individual journal, but I am a moderator on lj_feedback. I'm glad you joined the community. We're only allowing staff to have posting privileges, but you are allowed to comment on posts and we're happy to take suggestions for surveys/polls we should put up on it: feedback@livejournal.com.
